Teglio Veneto is a small municipality in the Metropolitan City of Venice, set on the fertile plainsbetween Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia. With just over 2,200 residents, it maintains a strong rural identity while gradually expanding its economic base. Agriculture remains central, complementedby small and medium sized enterprises in the agri food, industrial and service sectors.

 

A defining feature of the area is the Prati delle Pars, ancient communal pastures that preserve the community’s agricultural memory. Today they are recognised as valuable environmental and cultural resources, with initiatives that promote biodiversity and local heritage.

 

Cultural life is lively and rooted in tradition. The figure of Giuseppe Vendrame, known as Barbazep—an herbalist and advocate for farmers—has inspired the National Poetry Competition and the biennial Teglio Poetry Prize, which brings together poetry, music, theatre and visual arts.

 

The municipality is also committed to gender equality and inclusion through innovative projects such as Rosso Vivo, which engages young people on issues of gender awareness, and Digital Boomers, which supports digital inclusion for women over 55.
